The population at high risk of experiencing knee osteoarthritis is women at 18% compared to men at around 9.6% worldwide, older age, excessive body weight, and having had a knee injury or having had previous knee surgery.

Methods: The design of this study was a two-group pre-and post-test design. The research compares the effect of the myofascial release of the iliotibial band on reducing pain and increasing functional activity in knee osteoarthritis. The research subjects were all clients who had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis by a doctor.

Results: The results of the test for the difference in pain scores with VAS before and after treatment in group 1 showed a value of p = 0.000 or a value of p < 0.05, while the functional ability scores with WOMAC before and after group 1 treatment showed a p-value = 0.000 or a p-value < 0.05, which means that there was an effect of standard therapy on reducing pain and increasing functional activity in osteoarthritis knees in group 1 so that the hypothesis was accepted.

Conclusion: There is a difference in effect between standard therapy and standard therapy plus myofascial release of the iliotibial band to increase functional activity in knee osteoarthritis. There is a difference in the effect of standard therapy and standard therapy plus myofascial release iliotibial band on increasing functional activity (p = 0.00) in knee osteoarthritis.
Yoni Rustiana Kusumawati, Budi Utomo Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Keterapian Fisik https://jurnalketerapianfisik.com/index.php/jpt/article/view/447 Tue, 10 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Impact of Infant Massage on Weight Gain: A Study in Banjar District, South Kalimantan https://jurnalketerapianfisik.com/index.php/jpt/article/view/448
Background: Underweight in children under five is still a significant health problem in many parts of the world, especially in developing countries. One such intervention that has gained cultural significance is infant massage, a traditional practice that promotes relaxation, improves digestion, and enhances weight gain. This study seeks to evaluate the impact of infant massage on weight gain in infants under 24 months within Banjar Regency, a region where undernutrition presents a significant public health issue. While infant massage is traditionally practiced and believed to benefit infant health, its effectiveness remains debatable.

Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a control group involving 51 mother-infant pairs was employed. Participants were divided into an intervention group (n=17) that received infant massage training and performed it over three months and a control group (n=34) that received no such intervention. This research uses an observation form instrument. Infant weight gain was the primary outcome measure, with data analyzed using independent sample t-tests to assess differences between the two groups.

Results: No statistically significant difference was found in weight gain between the intervention and control groups (t = -0.415, p = 0.680). However, descriptive data revealed that 88.2% of infants in the intervention group experienced weight gain compared to 85.3% in the control group, indicating a potential trend toward positive effects of infant massage.

Conclusion: Despite the lack of statistical significance, the observed trend suggests potential benefits of infant massage. Further research with larger sample sizes and longer durations is recommended.
Noor Adha Aprilea, Norlaila Sofia, Nur Rohmah Prihatanti, Rusmilawaty Rusmilawaty Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Keterapian Fisik https://jurnalketerapianfisik.com/index.php/jpt/article/view/448 Fri, 13 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The The Effect of Job Crafting on Employee Well-Being in Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) Patients https://jurnalketerapianfisik.com/index.php/jpt/article/view/440
Background: Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) is a peripheral nerve injury that can cause functional disorders of the upper limbs due to decreased range of motion of joints and muscle strength. Further impacts can include psychological stress, socioeconomic difficulties, reduced quality of life, and ability to work. Patients who are unable to return to work require job crafting to create a balance between job demands and job resources so that they can achieve employee well-being. The general objective of this study is to determine the effect of job crafting on the level of employee well-being in BPI patients. The benefits of the results of this study will later be used to improve outcome measurement and recommendations in determining therapy goals, especially in the area of productivity, so that independent, productive, and prosperous BPI can be realized.

Methods: This research is quantitative research with a pre-experimental research form.
